Maria Island is breathtaking, sensational and one of the best experiences I have had to date.
We arrived a day early in Hobart and headed straight to Mona to tick that off the bucket list and got an early night's sleep as the Maria Island Walk company picks u up in Hobart the next morning and head's to the ferry to get you across to the Island.
It is about 90 mins from Hobart CBD to the ferry and once on the Ferry it is 30/35 minutes to Maria Island.
Now on to the information you really want to know from the moment you walk off the jetty you start your walking tour and all you see is green pastures and beautiful ocean its breathtaking so much so you remember you are staying here for 3 days and once the day walkers leave in the afternoon it's just you and 7 others on the island. In awe that we got to experience this side of the Island all to ourselves.
I have never seen so many Kangaroos, Wombats and Geese in my life and the fact that there are no cars allowed on the island and not many people you have the opportunity to get up close and personal to them. Wombats are my new favourite animal.
Back to the tour from the guides (Andy & Pat) who's amazing knowledge about the Island, animals and plant life to the beautiful stay at Bernacchi House for 2 nights to the food and wine that we ate and drank, everything was sensational and cannot be flawed.
Our highlight had to be the walk up to Bishop & Clerk and once we made it to the summit we sat up there eating our packed lunch and we all just sat in silence at the view we were witnessing 620m above sea level.
Maria Island is one of Tasmania's best kept secrets and a little part of me like the others on the tour agreed that the fact that not a lot of people have been here makes the place even more beautiful and special but I believe that this gem must be seen and if I could persuade you to go on your next trip to Tasmania it to will astound you.
Thank you Maria Island walk for sharing this beautiful Island experience with my husband and I. We will be back....x

Note: We did the Maria Island Winter Escape which is 2 nights/3 days and I highly recommend this but they also do 4 day tours check them out here.
