Gourmet Food Weekend at Halcyon House

Checked in and boy did it beat all my expectations. 

I landed in food heaven when I arrived at Halcyon House and it wasn't just because Guillaume Brahimi was giving us a masterclass on Apple Tarte Tatin and Scampi with Champagne and caviar sauce or about his 4 course showcase Dinner with the most amazing Basil infused Tuna and Passion fruit souffle.

But it happened when I sat down at the bar with our homemade lemonade welcome drink and the most incredible Natural oysters with macadamia milk & citrus and then again at our first dinner after cocktails with head chef of Halcyon House's restaurant Paper Daisy Ben Devlin.

Not only was the first dinner spectacular with stand outs like Coal roasted fish with finger lime & curry leaf, Caramelised pork neck with kohlrabi, tamarillo & fennel and Sweet potato & hazelnut tart with bergamot orange & caramelised white chocolate but when I woke the next morning breakfast happened and the Kefir pancakes with macadamia cream, passionfruit & berries made me never want to leave. 

So you see yes the food and service was incredible not only by guest Guillaume Brahimi but resident head chef Ben Devlin

Moving on from the food for just a minute oh no wait you must try the prawn sandwich from the bar menu it will change your world sorry I had to. I was equally excited to see the gorgeous property I had heard from many people it was spectacular and also Instagram friendly and if you saw my social media over the weekend I would have to agree with those statements.

Halcyon House is only 15 minutes south from Gold Coast airport and best of all 30 minutes away from Byron Bay. Features include 21 rooms (we had room 103), beachfront pool, beach access metres from the property, terrace bar, Audi A1 Car hire, bike hire, Paper Daisy Restaurant and the day spa to be completed this year it really is a perfect getaway.
